Hawks Overcome Plucky Eagles

Augusta Margaret River may have got the four points against the Collie Eagles, but they certainly didn’t have it all their own way at the Collie Recreation Ground on Sunday, in Round 17 of the Dale Alcock Homes South West, SWFL Premiership Season.

In a tight and close first quarter, the Hawks led by four points at the first break.  The Hawks would dominate the second quarter, which ultimately was the difference in the match as the Premiers kicked six goals to lead by 28 points at Half Time.

Collie certainly didn’t give up and after eight goals combined in the second quarter, neither team kicked a goal in the third term, as both defences took control.  Busselton and South Bunbury are the only other teams to keep the Hawks goal-less in 2022.  The Hawks kicked three goals to two in the final term to win by 37 points, and move to the top of the ladder.

Tim Noakes played a great game, kicking five goals, while Mitch Gerrans kicked four, while Jayce Fontana was the only Collie player to kick multiple goals, with Jacob Pilatti again amongst the best players.

The Hawks league team will have the bye next week, while Collie Eagles will play Eaton Boomers at Glen Huon Reserve on Sunday.
