Hawks Take Points Against Eaton

Augusta Margaret River defeated Eaton at Gloucester Park on Saturday by 59 points in their round five clash in the Dale Alcock Homes South West, SWFL Premiership season.

The combined score between the two teams was the highest of the season, with thirty one goals kicked on a perfect day for football.

Unfortunately, there was practically no-one there to watch it, with a very small crowd in attendance to see the Hawks bring up their third win of the season, joining Donnybrook, Harvey Bulls and South Bunbury on three wins.

The defending premiers started like a house on fire kicking eight first quarter goals, the first time that has happened since 19 August 2012, when the club kicked 8.4.52 against Harvey Bulls on their way to kicking thirty goals in the match.

Jack Hick and Garry Moss were more than nuisance value up-forward, both kicking five goals.  Leading by 31 points at the first change, the Boomers rallied in the second quarter as both teams kicked four goals each for the term.

The Hawks would hold the visitors goal-less in the third team, before both teams kicked a further four goals each in the final quarter.

It was the Hawks biggest score in the SWFL since 22 August 2021 when they kicked 22.17.149 against Carey Park.

Lincoln Adams, Steven Payne and Simon Moore continue to be amongst the Hawks best on a weekly occurrence, while Herman Humphries, Paul Rinder and Nic Hodgson never stopped trying all day for the Boomers who themselves kicked their highest score of the season.

The Hawks will now face Collie Eagles in round six in Collie, while Eaton will face Harvey Brunswick Leschenault at Brunswick next Saturday, with both teams looking for their first win.
