Hawks Take Points In Spiteful Match

Augusta Margaret River have overcome Donnybrook at Gloucester Park on Saturday afternoon, in a spiteful encounter which saw several players shown their marching orders by the umpires in the third quarter.

Donnybrook started the match strongly, needing to win to stave off Eaton Boomers and Harvey Bulls for the final spot in the five, opening up a six point advantage at the quarter time break.

The second quarter saw the Dons consolidate the lead slightly kicking three goals to two, taking a ten point buffer into half time.

The third quarter would see the Hawks rally, kicking five goals to take an advantage in a tight and tough third quarter.  The Umpires had their hands full with several players placed on report in several incidents that occurred during the firey third term.

The Hawks held sway in the last to record a 24 point win, not sufficient to jump ahead of South Bunbury at the top of the ladder.

The Dons remain fifth, but their hold on that position is now under threat by the Bulls and Boomers who have games in hand.

Jake Rodgers kicked four goals for the home team and was amongst the best players, with Jordan Veitch also playing well, while for Donnybrook, Ben Howlett again played well.
