After 273 days, Collie Eagles will finally play their first home game of the season, when they play Eaton at the Collie Recreation Ground on Sunday, in round nine of the Dale Alcock Homes South West, South West Football League season.
The Eagles have played at Payne Park (neutral venue), Gloucester Park, Kelly Park, Payne Park for a second time, before a match in Dunsborough and then Hands Memorial Oval. The match at Dunsborough was Collie’s best result so far, with a dominant performance against the Sharks and despite losing to South Bunbury, the team played well against a side many rungs above them on the ladder.
Eaton are coming off a horror two weeks, where they lost to Donnybrook by 210 points in round seven, and last week conceeded the first elevent goals against Carey Park.
Another twist comes in the shape of Jason Carter who has played well for Collie in the two games he has played, since leaving Eaton just three weeks ago, and he will face his former team on Sunday. Eaton will also need to curb the influence of David Cowan who has been playing well, along with Cameron Davidson, while defensively they will need to watch Jayce Fontana, who despite kicking just two goals last Sunday, looked particularly dangerous upforward, with the former Leagues leading goal kicker kicking two excellent goals against the Tigers.
Eaton have won three of the last four contests, including the most recent meeting by four points.
