Hickman Cup On The Line Sunday

Donnybrook return to VC Mitchell Park on Sunday to face Harvey Bulls in the Hickman Cup, in the final game of round four of the Dale Alcock Homes South West, South West Football League season.

The Dons currently sit sixth on the ladder with one win from three games, with a win over Eaton, while they have endured losses to Bunbury and Dunsborough.  Harvey Bulls meanwhile are eighth on the ladder, also with one win which came courtesy of a one point thriller over Collie Eagles, after a narrow loss to the Lions and a sixty six point defeat at the hands of Carey Park in round three.

The Hickman Cup is always hotly contested, but the Dons have had the wood over the Bulls in recent meetings, having won the last four and eight of the last ten.   The last match between the two sides, is one the Bulls would like to forget, where they failed to score against Donnybrook in attrocious conditions at Harvey Oval.

Much rides on the contest, with the loser to be 1-3 after four rounds and firmly cemented in the bottom half of the table, potentially with five other teams on one victory.  The winner will almost certainly be in the top five such is the closeness early in the season.

Both sides have players in good form, with Sam Perkusich playing well for the Dons, a player the Bulls will need to watch closely, while the Dons will hope that Aaron Jovanovic doesn’t have a big day in front of goals as he did against Collie, where he kicked the last seven goals for the Bulls.

The League match commences at 3.00pm.  Coverage will include live scoring via PlayHQ.
