Historic First Draw In Womens Competition

It took until season five of the SWFL Women’s competition before the first draw, but today at Sir Stewart Bovell Park, Busselton and South Bunbury did just that, playing out a thrilling draw.

After kicking the only goal in the first quarter, both teams kicked one goal each in the second quarter, before the Tigers kept Busselton scoreless, taking the lead in the third quarter.

Busselton would not be denied though the Mia Dronow kicking three goals and was a great focal point up forward, with both teams having a chance to win late in the match, but at the final siren scores were locked at 26 a piece.  The match was also significant for Bethany Bond, who became the first Woman in SWFL history to kick 100 goals, when she kicked her second goal of the match.

Mia Dronow and Shannon Pross were amongst the best for Busselton, while Maddi Obal and Charlie Wicksteed played good games for the Tigers.
