Late Goal Give Hawks Win

Augusta Margaret River defeated Donnybrook at Boyanup Oval in terrible conditions on Sunday, in round fourteen of the Dale Alcock Homes South West, SWFL premiership season.

The two teams were able to manage just seven goals between them, as more than 25mm of rain fell on the oval, in what was a crucial match for both sides.

The Hawks would kick the only goal of the opening term, and would kick the only two goals of the second term, as the Dons went through the opening half of the match without kicking a goal.

The Dons came out re-vitalised in the third quarter with Chris Atthowe, Todd Gregory and Lewis Jetta all kicking goals, as the home side hit the front for the first time in the match, taking a three point lead into the final term.

Scoring was not only at a premium, it was almost impossible with the Hawks kicking a valuable goal midway through the final term, which would be the winning goal, as the Hawks won by three points, kicking their lowest ever winning score, surpassing a victory over Busselton on 22 July 2017, when they kicked 4.10.34.

The Hawks will have the bye in round fifteen, with Donnybrook to face Dunsborough in Dunsborough next Sunday.
