Lions And Dons Both Looking For Four Points

Harvey Brunswick Leschenault are looking for their first win of the season, while Donnybrook are looking to bounce back after their round four loss, when the two teams meet on Saturday afternoon at Brunswick Oval.

The Lions who are yet to win a game, have lost by 19 points to Harvey Bulls, 2 points to Carey Park and by 15 points to Bunbury in their three games, and have come off the bye, so the team should be fresh and ready to face Donnybrook who are coming off a 26 points loss to Busselton.

The Dons winning start to the season came crashing down last weekend at VC Mitchell Park with Busselton dominating the opening three quarters, with just a final quarter resurgence by the Dons seeing the margin at 26 points.

Jarrod Humphries has been a focal point up forward for the Lions, having kicked ten goals from three matches, with four goals against Carey Park and Bunbury.    As well as Humphries is playing it is also an issue for the Lions, with Zac Piper the next best goal kicker with just two goals, so Humphries needs to play well for the Lions to have any chance against the Dons, who have already kicked 50 goals in three games with their lowest score of 12.5.77 being 25 points greater than the Lions highest score, highlighting the potency that the Dons attack has.

Zac Trigwell suffered a shoulder injury against Busselton and will be watching from the sidelines this Saturday, but Jeff Smith who has kicked seventeen goals already in 2023, will get assistance from Ben Frazer, Ben Howlett and Sean Lynch who have all been kicking goals this season, giving the Dons multiple avenues.

The Dons will be looking to win to stay in the mix with the top four teams, currently sitting fifth with the Bulldogs and Hawks also on two wins, with a match against Carey Park in round six.  The Lions will desperately want to win, as both Dunsborough and Collie play on Sunday, one team has to win, which will put the Lions a further rung down of the ladder should they not get over the Dons.
