Lions Down Tigers At Brunswick

It was heavy going, and it wasn’t pretty, as Harvey Brunswick Leschenault and South Bunbury slugged it out at a water logged Brunswick Oval on Sunday afternoon in round 13 of the SWFL.

Scoring was at a premium, with the final score being the lowest combined score of the season, with just 64 points scored between the two teams, which by chance, was two points less than Saturday’s accumulated score between Busselton and Augusta Margaret River (66) and the draw at Glen Huon Reserve between Eaton Boomers and Donnybrook (66) on Sunday.

In a dour affair, where no one came off the oval clean, South Bunbury would lead by five points at quarter time, before being held score-less in the second quarter, as the Lions kicked two goals to lead by nine points at the major interval.

South Bunbury doubled their score in the third period, but the home team also kicked two goals to keep the margin at nine points at the final break.  Neither team could kick a goal in the final quarter, as scoring practically was none existent in the heavy conditions.  In the end, Harvey Brunswick Leschenault would be victorious by 10 points, with Guy Piggott of South Bunbury the only player to kick more than one goal.
