Lions Get Home In Nail-Biter

Harvey Brunswick Leschenault got home by two points over Collie Eagles on Sunday afternoon at Brunswick Oval, to win their second game of the season.

In round nine, the Lions drew with Carey Park, while Collie lost by a point to Busselton, so both teams were familiar with close finishes, with the Lions kicking the only two goals of the opening term, and still held a fifteen point advantage at half time.

Collie jumped out of the blocks quickly in the third and momentarily led in the third quarter courtesy of four quick goals before the home team took back the advantage nearing three quarter time.

Both teams traded goals in the last quarter, with both clubs having opportunities to kick the winner.  In the end the home team prevailed by two points, despite kicking less goals than the Eagles.  Jarrod Humphries kicked three goals for the winners after kicking five the week before, while Reece Kelly kicked three goals for Collie.  Despite being on the bottom of the ladder, Collie have now lost six games by 20 points or less, and now sit ten points adrift on the Lions on the ladder in ninth place.    Collie have the bye in round eleven, while Harvey Brunswick Leschenault have a crucial match on Sunday against Eaton at Glen Huon Reserve.
