Harvey Brunswick Leschenault will celebrate the clubs 70th anniversary on Saturday, when they play South Bunbury at Brunswick Oval, in round sixteen of the Dale Alcock Homes South West, South West Football League season.
Off the field the Lions have a whole day of activities planned, with memoriblia and auctions, while on field, the Lions will be looking to defeat the Tigers, who have won the last nine contests, with the Lions losing a thriller to South Bunbury in round five by six points at Hands Memorial Oval.
Prior to the Country Championship bye, the Lions had won six in a row before being defeated by Bunbury, while South Bunbury had the bye in round fifteen and had previous defeated Eaton convincingly in round fourteen.
With both teams being fresh, the match promises to be a good one, with both sides looking to consolidate their position in the five. A Lions victory would put them on equal points with South Bunbury with five matches remaining, while a loss would see the Lions drop to fifth if Donnybrook defeat Dunsborough, and would also land them on the same points as Carey Park, should the Panthers defeat the Hawks. A Tigers victory will almost certain confirm a third place for South Bunbury leading into finals, unless Bunbury were to lose a match in the coming weeks, with the Bulldogs facing teams in the bottom half of the ladder until they meet the Tigers in the final round.
Both teams have plenty of players in good form, which continued with players who represented the South West at the Country Championships, making this a match worthy of the Lions 70th Anniversary, with a big crowd expected.
The League match will commence at 3.10pm, followed by a top three clash in the Colts at 5.50pm under lights.
