Lions Looking To Make History In Women’s Prelim

Harvey Brunswick Leschenault will looking to create history on Sunday, when they play Bunbury in the Tronox Women’s Preliminary Final at Hands Memorial Oval.

A win to the Lions will not only be their first win in a Preliminary Final, it will also be their first ever appearance in a Grand Final.  Standing in their way though is Bunbury, a perennial Grand Finalist, having appeared in eight of the nine Grand Finals in the SWFL.

The Lions led by nineteen points last Sunday against Busselton before losing narrowly by five points, giving the Lions hope should they make the Grand Final their best is good enough to test the Magpies.

Bunbury meanwhile made their way to the Preliminary Final after defeating Donnybrook by two goals with Daisy Rigby a standout in that victory kicking four goals.

The two sides have met on eighteen occasions, with Bunbury winning the first sixteen, with the Lions winning both matches this season, the most recent in July by 39 points.   Will the Bulldogs experience see them through, or will the Lions make it a rematch with the Magpies in the Grand Final.

The Preliminary Final commences at 1.00pm.
