Harvey Brunswick Leschenault have moved into another Solahart Reserves Grand Final, with a strong win against Carey Park at Sir Stewart Bovell Park on Saturday afternoon.
The opening quarter was a tight affair, with scoring at a premium in windy but fine conditions. The opening goal took seventeen minutes courtesy of a free kick to Pierce Ferguson, which put the Lions in front. A goal on the stroke of quarter time from Jai Moll gave the Lions a handy nine point lead at the first break.
The second quarter would start like the first, with neither team able to get the ascendancy. A clever snap by Shannon Sabourne opened the lead further, but it would be immediately answered by Jordan Yarran from a set shot. With the match tight, disciple became an issue for both sides with Billy Boucher gifted a goal courtesy of a 50m penalty as the Lions extended their lead again. Jordan Westaway took a mark right in front to give the Lions a twenty one point lead. With just a minute remaining in the first half, Baylie Helgeland would receive a free kick and a 50m penalty, as the Panthers pegged the lead back to 15 points at half time.
The third term was a dour affair, with the Lions held scoreless, while Carey Park managed two behinds, with the Lions taking a 13 point lead into the final term.
The final quarter was all the Lions, with Jaxon Cuxson kicking two goals, with two time Times Medalist James Strano putting the exclamation mark on the match, king the final goal with thirty seconds remaining.
The Lions move into the Grand Final, while Carey Park will play in a Preliminary Final against either Bunbury or Donnybrook next Sunday.
