Lions To Host Panthers On Saturday Afternoon

Harvey Brunswick Leschenault will host Carey Park on Saturday afternoon at 3.00pm, in the second game of round two of the Dale Alcock Homes South West, SWFL Premiership Season to be held at Brunswick Oval.

The Lions went down narrowly to Harvey Bulls in round one, while Carey Park caused a major upset in the opening game of the season at Kelly Park, winning by three points.

The Lions had six players make their League debut last Sunday, while the Panthers were also undermanned making their victory all the more meritorious.   Jack Fletcher and debutant Ned Gualter played well for the Lions, while Jarrod Humphries was again a focal point up forward.  Carey Park’s younger player never stopped running all day and the Lions will need to be aware that the Panthers will run out the game to the very end in what is a crucial early contest for both teams.

A win to the Panthers will see them start with two wins, and the Lions two losses, conversely if the Lions win at home, both teams will go into the Easter break with a win and a loss.  The last time the two teams met late last year, Carey Park won by five points in a low scoring slog in heavy rain.  Although the weather is forecast to be fine on Saturday, the margin will likely be close.
