Lions Win Thriller At Headquarters

Harvey Brunswick Leschenault won a thriller at JE Hands Memorial Oval on Saturday night, in their round two encounter with South Bunbury.

The Lions got the better of the start in wet conditions leading by nine points at the opening break, and held a ten point buffer at the main change.

The Tigers showed plenty of spirit in the third quarter kicking four goals to one, to take the lead going into the final break, leading by nine points.

In a pulsating final term, both teams traded goals with the Lions kicking four majors to two.  The final seven minutes saw the ball go from end to end, with both teams having opportunities to score, but in the end the Lions held on to win by five points.  Despite the wet conditions, Leigh Kohlmann stood up for South Bunbury to kick four of the home teams eight goals, while David Newman kicked three at the other end for the Lions.

South Bunbury will head to Margaret River next Saturday to take on the Hawks who were impressive in atrocious condition against Donnybrook, while Harvey Brunswick Leschenault will play Harvey Bulls in the Western Cellars Brunswick Cup, with the Bulls looking to atone after their loss to Carey Park.
