Magpies Down The Premiers Again

The reigning premiers have been beaten by Busselton for the second year in a row in the opening round of a season, after the Magpies defeated Augusta Margaret River by 13 points at Gloucester Park on Saturday night before a big crowd.

As expected the match was close and tight all night, with the margin never extending past eighteen points at any stage.  The Magpies led by eleven points at quarter time, eight points at half time, a goal at three quarter time before winning by thirteen points.

Busselton were the only team last season to defeat the Hawks twice and have now extended their winning run over their Southern partners to three.

Ethan Bowman and Jake Dugan were amongst the best for the black and whites, with Jaxon East kicking three goals.  Beau Morgan would kick four goals for the home team, with former Boomer, Thomas Shanahan and Simon Moore the Hawks best players.
