South Bunbury will play Busselton on Saturday afternoon at Hands Oval in round seventeen of the SWFL season, in a match that has massive consequences for South Bunbury subject to the result.
The Tigers are currently third on the ladder, equal on points with Donnybrook and Carey Park, and the Tigers will need to win against Busselton to remain third or even move to second, based on other results, with the Dons playing the Bulls, with Carey Park playing Dunsborough.
More importantly though, should the Tigers lose, and both the Dons and Carey Park win, the Tigers will go a game behind both of those clubs, and the Tigers also have the bye in round eighteen, making it difficult for South Bunbury to finish second to host a Qualifying Final, and will see the team drop to fourth.
With those scenarios to play out, the match promises to be a great game, with Busselton welcoming back Mitch Tenardi and Zac Pethybridge from State duties, ready to take on the Tigers. Busselton have been challenged in the previous two matches, with Donnybrook leading at three quarter time in round fifteen, and Bunbury keeping Busselton goal-less in the third quarter of last weeks encounter. Busselton will be up for the challenge and will know, despite South Bunbury losing last week, a good team will bounce back and provide yet another challenge for the undefeated Magpies.
Busselton’s midfield continue to be strong with Damian Lee one of several players last Sunday who played well in the fifteen point victory. The battle with the Tigers midfield will be well worth watching Jace Cormack and Shaun Crane two players that the Magpies will need to be wary of.
Both attacks also have players with the ability to kick multiple goals, and also have strong defensive lines so the match is set up nicely for a great contest.
With fine weather forecast, both teams will be able to bring their running game to the contest, which commences at 3.00pm.
Colts 9.45am, Reserves 11.40am, Women’s 1.30pm, League 3.00pm
