Match Of The Round At Payne Park

Bunbury and Busselton will feature in the match of the round at Payne Park on Sunday, in round two of the Dale Alcock Homes South West premiership season.

Two of the oldest rivals in the SWFL will do battle on Sunday, with Bunbury playing their opening game of the season, while Busselton are coming off a 33 point win against Carey Park.

Bunbury have had the wood over Busselton in recent times, winning eight of their last ten encounters, including the last five.  Busselton Coach Matt Jamieson feels the Magpies will be better having played last weekend, while Bunbury will be fresh coming into round two off the bye in week one.

Both teams play an attacking style of play which should lend itself to a great game, with good weather forecast.  Busselton also know they have the bye in round three, so have the opportunity to go into the break 2-0 should they overcome the Bulldogs.  Bunbury meanwhile, should they win over the Magpies, have a good draw in the next month, playing three teams who finished outside the five last year.

Bunbury will need to curb the influence of Mitch Tenardi who started the season brilliantly in the opening round win over the Panthers, with many possessions and three goals.

A big crowd is expected for the clash, which has some intrigue over how Bunbury will fare having not yet played a game, coming up against last years premiers, who won last weekends Grand Final rematch.
