It is a match both teams need to win, when Augusta Margaret River host Harvey Brunswick Leschenault on Sunday at Gloucester Park, in round fourteen of the Dale Alcock Homes South West, South West Football League premiership season.
The Hawks go into the match in sixth place on the ladder, with six wins and coming off the back of a close loss to fifth placed Donnybrook, who also have six wins. Harvey Brunswick Leschenault meanwhile, have seven wins and sit in fourth place on the ladder, coming off a comfortable win against the Sharks.
A win by the Hawks could put them back into fifth place if Donnybrook lose to Bunbury, and it will also put them back on the same points as the Lions. If roles are reversed, the Hawks will fall two games behind the Lions and potentially a game behind Donnybrook should they beat Bunbury, and potentially drop to seventh if Carey Park defeat Harvey. With the Hawks having the fourth worst percentage in the competition, winning is their only option to stay in touch for fifth spot. The Lions incentive to win is that they remain within one win of third placed South Bunbury, who they will play in round sixteen after the Nutrien Ag Country Championships.
Both teams have players in good form, headed by last years Hayward Medalists, Jed Spence of the Hawks, and Ty Anderson of the Lions.
The League match commences at 2.30pm.
