Panthers Host Tigers To Start Round Seven

Carey Park will host their old foe South Bunbury on Saturday afternoon at Kelly Park, in the opening game of round seven of the Dale Alcock Homes South West, South West Football League season.

The Tigers have won the last four contests between the two sides, and Carey Park will be looking to arrest that trend on their home ground, in front of the 1986 Premiership side who will be on hand to celebrate the 40th anniversary of their famous win over the Collie Saints, in what is still to this day, the all time highest score by any team in a grand final and the highest aggregate score in a grand final.

Carey Park defeated Harvey Bulls in round six at Kelly Park, but took until midway through the third term to get the ascendancy, while the week prior they lost on ANZAC day to the Hawks by fifteen points.  South Bunbury meanwhile, defeated Eaton in round six at Glen Huon Reserve by 38 points, after winning the game of the season so far against Harvey Brunswick Leschenault by six points in round five.

The Panthers are sixth on the ladder with three wins from five matches, while the Tigers are third with four wins from five games.   Carey Park will want the four points to stay in touch with the top five and potentially move into the top five at the end of the round, while a loss will put them a game behind the fifth placed team.  Likewise, South Bunbury can draw equal with Bunbury and potentially Busselton at the top of the ladder, with the Bulldogs having the bye, as the season reaches one third complete.

Both sides have players in form, including both captains, Jaxon Bell and Kevin Chitty, while Brian Hughes and Kade Wallrodt in good form in front of goals for both sides.

The League match will commence at 2.30pm, with a big crowd expected with fine weather forecast.
