Panthers Keep Season Alive

Carey Park have moved into fifth place on the Dale Alcock Homes South West, South West Football League premiership ladder, after defeating Collie Eagles at the Collie Recreation Ground on Saturday.

The Panthers victory was set up in the opening quarter with Carey Park kicking six goals to one.  The visitors swift ball movement and precision passing was too much for the Eagles who struggled for the most part to gain possession of the ball.

After quarter time the match was more even, with the quarter time lead of thirty one points, only advancing to 35 points at full time.  The Panthers could have had a significant victory, dominating the final term, but were very wasteful, kicking one goal seven behinds for the term.

Harry Jones and Kelvin Lawrence again played well for the Panthers, with Jones also kicking four goals.   David Cowan and Jason Carter were the best for the Eagles.

Collie will host Bunbury in round sixteen after the Country Championships, while Carey Park will host Augusta Margaret River in what now promises to be a crucial match in the race for the final five.
