Panthers Win Another Thriller

For the second week in a row, Carey Park have won by less than a goal, when they defeated Harvey Brunswick Leschenault on Saturday afternoon, in round two of the Dale Alcock Homes South West, SWFL Premiership season.

The Panthers stole victory from the jaws of defeat, trailing for practically the entire match, before hitting the front in the last five minutes of the match.

Before a very healthy crowd at Brunswick Oval, the visitors scored first in the opening minutes before Jarrod Humphries goaled, snapping truly while under pressure.  A good running goal from Connor Carbone put the Lions in front, and would be thirteen points in front when Humphries beat three opponents to kick his second.  Josh Bradbury converted a set shot late in the quarter, but when Zac Piper strolled into goal the margin was back to thirteen points at the first break.

The Lions extended the margin immediate after the quarter time break when Jarrod Humphries kicked his third from a set shot, and the Panthers looked like they were in trouble.

With the margin at eighteen points at half time, the Panthers needed to strike early and they did, and slowly but surely narrowed the margin, with Brady Lenaghan kicking two clutch goals in the second half.

In a thrilling finale, neither team to land the knock-out blow, with the Panthers victorious by two points in a really entertaining game of football.
