Panthers Wins Colts Qualifier

Carey Park have defeated South Bunbury in the Apprentice & Traineeship Co Colts Qualifying Final at Kelly Park on Saturday morning before a big crowd.

After the first quarter was dominated by Carey Park, South Bunbury hit back hard in the second quarter, with Leon Kickett kicking an outstanding goal on the run from deep in the pocket.  Basil Hart replied shortly after before Zak Ivey marked in the goal square to reduce the margin.  Te-sean Hart extended the margin back to four goals, before a five minute burst by Steven Worrigal lit the match up with three goals to narrow the margin to six points.  Zak Ivey leveled the scores shortly after as both teams went to half time locked together.

Sheldon Pickett who played a great game, opened the scoring in the third term before Brian Hughes kicked two quick goals, one on the run and the other from a set shot to make the margin twenty one points at three quarter time.

Two quick goals at the start of the fourth quarter to Worrigal and Kickett narrowed the margin back to nine points, but two late goals to the Panthers saw them prevail by twenty points to advance to the second semi final.  South Bunbury will now play the winner of Sunday’s Elimination Final between Harvey Brunswick Leschenault and Busselton in a first semi-final.
