Perfect Ten At Home For Panthers

Carey Park have gone through the home and away season undefeated at Kelly Park, after accounting for Eaton on Saturday evening by eighty six points, in round twenty of the South West Football League.

The match didn’t start as the Panthers would have expected, with Eaton kicking the opening goal in the first twenty seconds of the match. The lead was short lived though, with Kelvin Lawrence leveling the scores after he snapped truly.  Harry Jones dribbled a goal from deep in the pocket to give the Panthers the lead, which led to goals from Ryan King and Harley Sparks.   Josh Bowe kicked a long range goal to narrow the margin, before Kelvin Lawrence kicked his second goal, with Ryan King taking a mark right on the siren to see the Panthers 23 points in front at quarter time.

After the quarter time break, Carey Park took total control of the match, with Rory O’Brien, Bill Brown and Liam Stewart dominating. The Panthers kicked four goals to one in the second term, leading by 44 points at half time.  The margin extended to 57 points at three quarter time, before the home side kicked five goals to one in the final term, including one to Ryan King after the siren, finishing his night with six goals in a great performance.

Although Eaton tried hard they were no match for Carey Park, who won their tenth game in a row at home.  Greg Humphries and Paul Rinder were again amongst the best for Eaton, who have the bye in the next round, followed by their final match against Dunsborough.

The Panthers win almost ensures a qualifying final berth, which maybe confirmed on Sunday if Donnybrook defeat South Bunbury.  Carey Park will host the qualifying final if they beat Harvey Bulls in round twenty one and if South Bunbury defeat Donnybrook.
