Plenty Riding On Southern Derby

Round eight of the Dale Alcock Homes South West, SWFL premiership season, commences with the Southern Derby between Augusta Margaret River and Busselton, a rivalry that goes back to 1966.

Busselton have dominated recent encounters, winning the last four, including the most recent by 44 points.

Current Augusta Margaret River sit fifth on the ladder after a narrow win over Harvey Bulls last Saturday, while Busselton sit seventh, four points behind the Hawks, also coming off a narrow victory over Donnybrook.

A win to the Hawks will put Busselton two games behind fifth place, and will be playing catch up for the rest of the season to make finals, while a win to Busselton would see them equal with the Hawks, and potentially move to sixth, should Carey Park lost to South Bunbury.

The added spice to the match is the return of two time Premiership Coach, Matt Jamieson to Gloucester Park, now as Coach of Busselton.  Jamieson will know almost every player in the Hawks line-up and will be able to use that knowledge to try and bring down the Hawks with his Magpie line up.

Both teams have plenty of players in form, and with fine weather predicted for the contest, a classic Southern derby looms.
