Season Starts This Saturday

The 2023, Dale Alcock Homes South West, SWFL Premiership Season, commences this Saturday the first of 420 matches to determine the finalist in this years final series.

The competition increases by two teams in 2023, with Dunsborough fielding a League team who will take to the field in round two, while Collie Eagles Women’s team returns after being out of the competition for the last two seasons.

Three derbies will kick start the 67th season of the competition, with Carey Park hosting Bunbury on Saturday afternoon, the first time that the two teams have played on a Saturday afternoon in many years.  Two twilight fixtures on Saturday evening will see the reigning premiers in Augusta Margaret River hosting Busselton in the Busselton Toyota Cup, while Collie Eagles will host South Bunbury, under the new lights at the Collie Recreation Ground.

On Sunday, Harvey Bulls will host Harvey Brunswick Leschenault in the Harvey Fresh Cup at the Harvey Recreation Ground, while in Donnybrook, the Dons will host Eaton at VC Mitchell Park to complete the opening round.

Several players will be in new colours in 2023, with Joel Houghton moving from Eaton to Bunbury, Max Patterson from Augusta Margaret River to Dunsborough as their inaugural captain, while Sam Lewis will move from the Hawks to Harvey Bulls.  Meanwhile, Dunsborough will have high profile recruit Pat McGinnity in their inaugural team who commence their campaign in round two when they play Donnybrook.
