Second Place On The Line

Second place and a home final is potentially on the line on Saturday afternoon, when Carey Park host Donnybrook at Kelly Park in round eighteen of the Dale Alcock Homes South West, Premiership Season.

Donnybrook who sit second with twelve wins and a superior percentage to Carey Park who also have twelve wins, have played one less game than Carey Park, putting them in the box seat, should they win.

The Dons have matches against Bunbury (fifth) and South Bunbury (fourth) in the next two rounds, while Carey Park have top of the ladder Busselton at home in round nineteen, before facing Eaton and Harvey Bulls.

The match itself promises to be a beauty with both teams in excellent form, with the Panthers on a seven game winning streak, last beaten in round nine by Eaton by five points. while the Dons have won six of their last seven matches, with their only defeat being at the hands of Busselton.

Both teams have players in good form all over the ground, with Ryan King consistently kicking goals for Carey Park, while Jeff Smith at the opposite end kicked five goals last weekend against Harvey Bulls.

Harley Sparks has been a great acquisition for the Panthers in 2023 and has been at the forefront of the best players on a weekly basis and would be in contention for this years Hayward Medal.  Rory O’Brien and Jaxon Bell are also in good form which will make their clash with the Dons midfielders a great one to watch.   The Dons senior players have also been playing well with Chris Atthowe, Ben Howlett, Luke Dale and Scott Tuia all playing well, in what promises to be a great match.

With fine weather forecast and no wind, it promises to a perfect day for a great game of football with a big crowd expected.
