Seven Last Quarter Goals Seals Victory For Dons

The Dale Alcock Homes South West, SWFL season ventured into round six with some even contests forecast, and the match between Harvey Bulls and Donnybrook at the Harvey Oval, was one of them.

After three tough and close quarters, where the Dons led by 16 points at quarter time, then trailed by nine points at half time, only to find themselves back in front at three quarter time by three points, the Dons then kicked seven goals to three in the final term to defeat the Bulls by 28 points.

The game ebbed and flowed but was a great contest between two even teams, with Jeff Smith back to his best kicking six goals in a dominant forward display.   Not to be outdone, his counterpart at the other end, Brad Holmes kicked five majors for the Bulls.

Jack Wheeler and Jacob Kendle were amongst the best for the Dons, getting many possessions, while Aaron Jovanovic and Dylan Sellick also were dominant ball-getters for the Bulls.

The win puts Donnybrook into fourth place on the ladder, however, they have a poor percentage, something they will need to address in the weeks ahead if they wish to progress further up the ladder.  The Bulls, it was somewhat of a shock loss after their great win against South Bunbury the week before.

The Dons will play Busselton at Sir Stewart Bovell Park on Sunday in a must win match for both teams, while the Bulls will play arch rivals Harvey Brunswick Leschenault on Saturday in the Bottlemart Cup at Brunswick Oval.
