Dunsborough will be looking for their first victory on Saturday night at the Dunsborough Playing Fields, when they host Carey Park, in round two of the Dale Alcock Homes South West, South West Football League season.
The Sharks have started the season with two losses, in round one to South Bunbury and in round two against Harvey Brunswick Leschenault. They will take on Carey Park who lost their only match of the season to Bunbury at Kelly Park in round two, but sustained some significant injuries to key players including Nic Bonomelli, Matt Martin, Rhys Gardiner and Harry Jones in the process.
With it unlikely any of these players will be in the line-up for the Panthers, the Sharks will have their best opportunity to defeat Carey Park for the first time in their history, since their first match where they lost by five points.
The Sharks were five goals behind at quarter time in their round two match against the Lions, conceding seven goals, but only lost by 33 points, staying with the Lions in the final three quarters. The Panthers also started well against Bunbury, but the injuries took their toll, the longer the match went on.
With both sides at the bottom of the ladder in the early stages of the season, both have an opportunity to win their first game of 2026, while for the loser, it could be a long climb towards the top as the season unfolds.
