Sharks To Face The Lions Sunday

Dunsborough will play Harvey Brunswick Leschenault at the Dunsborough Playing Fields, in round seventeen of the Dale Alcock Homes South West, South West Football League season on Sunday.

The last time the two teams met in round six, the Sharks stages a stunning second half comeback to draw with the Lions at Brunswick Oval, after trailing by 32 points in the third term.

Since that time the Lions have moved into the top five, while the Sharks hadn’t won a game since that match until last weekend, when they accounted for Eaton by three points.   The Lions meanwhile were defeated by Busselton at Bovell Park, and find themselves fifth on the ladder, two points behind fourth placed Donnybrook, and two points ahead of sixth placed Carey Park.

The Lions will be fully aware that anything but a win on Sunday, will make qualifying for the 2025 finals very difficult, even more difficult should Carey Park defeat Donnybrook at Kelly Park in the other Sunday fixture.

Harvey Brunswick Leschenault will welcome back Ty Anderson and Jack Fletcher for the contest, both absent from last weeks loss to Busselton while they represented Western Australia in the State Country match.

The Lions are still to play Donnybrook, Carey Park and South Bunbury on the run home, and they can solidify their spot in the five with a victory over the Sharks, before playing the other two sides either side of them on the ladder.

Meanwhile, the Sharks will be looking for back to back victories to hold on to eighth place on the ladder.  The team finished ninth in their inaugural year and eighth last season, and a win on Sunday will secure that position this season, while a loss will see Collie Eagles possible move back to eighth place, should they beat Eaton.

The League match commences at 2.40pm
