Harvey Brunswick Leschenault and Donnybrook headline round twenty of the Dale Alcock Homes South West, South West Football League season, in a match that has so many ramifications, depending on who wins.
As it stands Donnybrook are third on the ladder after a dominant performance over Busselton last Sunday, while Harvey Brunswick Leschenault are fifth, coming off the bye. Previous to that they were defeated by Busselton at Sir Stewart Bovell Park.
Earlier in the season, the Lions were successful at VC Mitchell Park, defeating Donnybrook by twelve points.
But Saturday night’s clash has ramifications, not only for both teams, but will also determine where South Bunbury finish, with Donnybrook able to finish, third, fourth or fifth, the same as the Lions, while the Tigers will finish either third or fourth, with percentage to play a part as well.
The scenarios:
- Donnybrook defeat HBL, the Lions can only finish fifth or sixth (assuming South Bunbury defeat Harvey Bulls and/or Bunbury)
- Donnybrook defeat HBL, the Lions would then need to defeat Carey Park in the final round IF Carey Park defeat Busselton on Saturday to make finals and finish fifth.
- If HBL lose and Carey Park win their final two matches against Busselton and HBL, Carey Park can finish fifth.
- HBL defeat Donnybrook, Donnybrook will finish fifth (assuming HBL also defeat Carey Park).
- HBL defeat Donnybrook, Donnybrook will finish fourth (if HBL don’t defeat Carey Park)
- If South Bunbury defeat Harvey Bulls and lose to Bunbury, and HBL defeat both Donnybrook and Carey Park, it will then come down to percentage as to who finishes third, South Bunbury or HBL. Currently the Lions percentage is five percent better than South Bunbury’s.
- Second and Fourth placed teams host finals in week one
With so much riding on the result of the League fixture, a huge crowd is expected at Brunswick Oval for the clash which commences at 4.40pm.
