South Bunbury Win In Miserable Conditions

Brunswick Oval was the venue for the opening match of round twelve of the Dale Alcock Homes South West, SWFL season, with Harvey Brunswick Leschenault hosting South Bunbury, with the match played in heavy rain, strong winds, and in the last quarter thunder and lightning.

After a relatively even first quarter, South Bunbury set up the victory in the second quarter kicking six goals, while keeping the Lions goal-less.

As conditions got worse, scoring also slowed with just four goals kicked in the second half.  The Lions were stuck on 1.3.9 for 20 minutes, the clubs record low score, but eventually two late behinds saved the team, followed by a goal in the last term.

South Bunbury were more fluent with ball use, and always had more players around the ball, and controlled the match from start to finish.  Shaun Crane, Kevin Chitty and Cole Sawyer got plenty of the ball, creating many opportunities for the Tigers.

The Tigers will next play Busselton, while the Lions will head to Donnybrook at VC Mitchell Park, with both games scheduled for Saturday.
