Southern Derby Promises To Be A Beauty

The Southern Derby will take centre stage on Saturday evening when Augusta Margaret River and Busselton play at Gloucester Park in round two of the Dale Alcock Homes South West, South West Football League.

Both teams had good wins in the opening round, with the Hawks successful against Collie Eagles last Sunday, while the Magpies were impressive in their win against Dunsborough.

The Hawks will be looking to win for Beau Morgan who plays his 150th game for the club, and has been a great servant over the journey, and the Hawks would love to celebrate with a win.

Both teams shared the victories last season, but Busselton have won five of the last six encounters and will take plenty of confidence into the match after their strong showing against Dunsborough.    Mitchell Cameron kicked five goals while Liam Creighton kicked four, giving the forward line plenty of potency, and will be two players the Hawks will need to watch closely.

Although it is only round two, there is plenty to play for, with the winner to remain undefeated, while the loser will join several teams who will have won one match after round two.

Freddie Clutterbuck kicked four goals for the Hawks last weekend, and along with the ever reliable Mitch Payne will be two players Busselton will need to keep quiet if they are to record a win on Saturday evening, in what promises to be a great clash.

The League fixture commences at 5.10pm
