SWFL Undefeated After Opening Day

The Alcoa SWFL Women’s team are undefeated after the opening day of the Rio Tinto Country Championships in Mandurah, after defeating previously unbeaten Kimberley Football League by 19 points.

The SWFL dominated the game, played in very warm conditions but found it much harder to score than in their second pool game against Goldfields.  The team kicked two early goals including one to Emma Borinelli before she had to be helped off the ground after a crunching tackle.  Borinelli would break her collarbone in the exchange, and would be taken to the Mandurah Health Campus.

Kimberley were held scoreless in the first half but kicked the opening goal of the second term to reduce the margin to eight points before Beth Bond kicked two second half goals to put the result beyond doubt.
