SWFL Women’s Team Take Down Both WAFL Clubs

It was a very warm afternoon on Saturday at Hands Oval, but that didn’t stop more than 300 people turning up to watch the SWFL Combined Women’s team take on the WAFLW clubs East Fremantle and Swan Districts.

SWFL dominated the opening match, with relentless forward pressure keeping the ball exclusively in the SWFL half of the ground, ultimately keeping Swan Districts scoreless.   Bunbury Bulldogs, Sarina Tassone kicked three goals in the first half in a dominant display.

The SWFL were then able to have a break, as both East Fremantle and Swan Districts played the second match, with a much closer scoreline, the Sharks defeating the Swans by four points.

The final match of the day would pit the SWFL against East Fremantle, and this would also be a close match, with scores level at half time, before the SWFL kicked five goals to two in the second half to win the match by three goals.   Carey Park’s Karinda Farrant, who played well in the first game, would kick three goals in the second match, while Tassone would add to her tally on the day, kicking two goals.

The SWFL would like to thank our Nutrien Ag Women’s Coach, Max Jetta for getting the team together at short notice, and to Tracey Evans (South Bunbury) who was the Team Manager, who also helped in the lead-up with ensuring all the players were registered to meet the WAFC requirements.
