After 273 days away from the Collie Recreation Ground, the Collie Eagles finally returned to home base, taking the four points against Eaton in round nine of the Dale Alcock Homes South West, South West Football League season.
The Eagles dominated the contest in the opening quarter, with ten scoring shots to two, but theme of the day would be the inaccuracy, with the Eagles only converting three of the ten shots.
Matt Burton had a great game and was dominating the forward line, and would end the match with eight goals in an outstanding individual performance. The home side led by 35 points at half time, but the Boomers rallied at the start of the third term, aided by their accurate kicking opposed to Collie’s waywardness.
The final quarter belonged to the homeside, with a healthy crowd on hand to see the home side win at home for the first time this season. Matt Burton was outstanding for Collie, as was Adam Justice and captain Cam Davidson, while Tyson Buswell was the Boomers best, kicking three goals.
Collie will now focus on Busselton, who will head to Collie next Saturday as the only undefeated team in the competition, while Eaton will host Harvey on Sunday.
