Tigers To Host Sharks On Sunday

South Bunbury will host Dunsborough on Sunday at Hands Memorial Oval, with the teams playing for the very first time in the Dale Alcock Homes South West, League competition.

South Bunbury started the season with a 38 point win over Collie before an eleven point loss to Augusta Margaret River at Hands Oval.  Last week the Tigers played Eaton and in a surprise to all, took well into the third quarter to hit the front, and it was only in the final term before they kicked away from a dogged Boomers outfit.

Conversely, Dunsborough have played twice and were humbled by 100 points in their opening home game, before taking it right up to Busselton last Sunday at Bovell Park, in what was a great showing by the new team in the competition, going down by 27 points.

The Sharks will need to bring that intensity again on Sunday on the wide open spaces of Hands Oval, and will need to shut down the supply to the forwards to do this.

Tom Gorter, Shaun Crane, Blake Piggott and Seb Hiscox have started the season well, and are just a few of the players Dunsborough will need to keep quiet.  Although only two games in, Dunsborough already have some players that are ones to watch out for, with Pat McGinnity, Chris White, Nic Reid and Max Paterson all starting the season well, with Reid kicking four goals in the loss to Busselton, while White has been handy up forward kicking four goals from two games.

Leigh Kohlmann was kept quiet to a certain extent last Saturday, kicking two goals six behinds for the match, but with ten goals from three games, he will continue to be a focal point for the Tigers in a match they are expected to win.  If they were to achieve that, they could be a part of six teams on three wins at the end of the round, dependent on other results.  Should Dunsborough play like they did against Busselton, they are a chance of causing an upset, and no team wants to be the first to lose to the new club.
