Tingey Kicks Nine Goals To See Lions Home

Brendan Tingey kicked a career high nine goals, as Harvey Brunswick Leschenault defeated Collie Eagles by 36 points at the Collie Recreation Ground, in round four of the Dale Alcock Homes South West, South West Football League premiership season.

Three Hayward Medalists on the same side in the same match.

The match started in entertaining fashion with seven first quarter goals, with the Lions kicking the opening two goals, with the Eagles kicking the third goal of the game, before the Lions kicked two more in quick succession, only for the Eagles to kick two of their own, to trail by just four points at quarter time.

The game was won in the second quarter with the Lions kicking four unanswered goals as the margin extended to 28 points at half time.

The Eagles rallied in the third term kicking three goals to two, with Odinn Kirk and Luke English getting the Eagles back in the match.

Any thoughts of any further comeback was thwarted by Brendan Tingey who kicked his ninth in a brilliant exhibition.  In what could be a first, the 2020 Hayward Medalist, was joined by 2019 Medalist, Jesse Crichton and 2024 Medalist, Ty Anderson in the best players.

The win elevates the Lions from tenth to sixth overnight, while Collie remain at the bottom of the ladder.    Collie Eagles will face Dunsborough in round five in Dunsborough, while the Lions will also be on the road, facing Augusta Margaret River.
