Top Of The Table Clash At Gloucester Park

When both teams played earlier this season at Hands Oval, the build up was big, and sadly the game didn’t deliver, eleven rounds on, the stakes are much higher and both Augusta Margaret River and South Bunbury have much to play for, when they take to Gloucester Park this Saturday afternoon.

Earlier this season South Bunbury were way to good for the Hawks, but much has happened in the meantime, and the Hawks have slowly been building momentum, which has the Premiers primed for another title tilt.

A win on Saturday against the Tigers will see the Hawks go level on points with South Bunbury, and a margin of 11 points will be enough to put them on top.  Conversely, if the Tigers win, they will finish the home and away season on top of the ladder and will advance straight to a second semi final.  If the Hawks do win, percentage will be what separates both teams, who both have a bye and a match against Bunbury to finish their home and away campaigns.   Furthermore, if the Hawks lose, they can drop to third if Bunbury defeat Donnybrook, South Bunbury and Augusta Margaret River in the final three weeks.

Tim Noakes and Harry Taylor are key components of the Hawks forward line with 54 goals between them, the same number Jordan Strahan has for the Tigers.  Both teams are ranked first and second for scores for and against, which makes for an intriguing contest with both teams having match winners all over the ground.    Both teams have multiple avenues to goal aside from Noakes, Taylor and Strahan, while both defensive lines will make any attacking move difficult.

Simon Moore (AMR) and Kevin Chitty (SB) will be key to both teams success on Saturday, both prolific ball getters and sublime distributors of the ball.

Who will win, who knows, though come 4.45pm on Saturday, things will either become slightly clearer or we will be no closer to knowing who will finish where on the ladder.
