Top Of The Table Clash In Women’s

It doesn’t happen often each season, but Busselton and Harvey Bulls will play each other, in a top of the table clash in the Optus Women’s competition this Saturday afternoon, at Sir Stewart Bovell Park.

Busselton, who until recently were undefeated sit atop of the ladder, with just the one loss to Bunbury, while Harvey Bulls one and only loss came in round six against Busselton by 14 points.

Busselton had five players out of last weeks match against South Bunbury on State duty, which will bolster the team for the crucial clash.  Should the Bulls win, they would draw level with the Magpies on top of the ladder, with a game in hand, having already had their bye in this round.

Karyn Beeson and Beth Beckett played strong games last Saturday for the Magpies, and along with Katie-Jayne Grieve, Maddy Obal and Rennie Meadmore, the Magpies have had star players across all parts of the field, with Katisha Barrett being one of the leading goal kickers (third) this season with 22 goals.

The Bulls possess plenty of fire power, having four players in the top ten goal kickers, headed by Emma Faulkner who has twenty eight goals, and will play her 50th game on Saturday.  Megan Minton (20), Caitlin Shales (18) and Trinity Brown (16), are all capable of kicking multiple goals, while Rachel Wright is a player the Magpies will need to watch out for, having six times been voted best on ground by the Coaches this season.

It is expected to be a good match, but potentially not high scoring as both teams match up well against one another.  The match commences at 1.30pm.
