Tough Task Facing Tigers In Elimination Final

It will be a historic Elimination Final to be played at Sir Stewart Bovell Park on Saturday, in the first final of the Dale Alcock Homes South West, SWFL Finals Series.

Never in the history of the SWFL have Busselton and South Bunbury played off in an Elimination Final, since the final five was brought into the competition in 1973.

Since that time, only seven teams have come from the Elimination Final to make the Grand Final, and only one of those, Harvey Brunswick Leschenault in 2010 have gone on to win the premiership.

To make it even more difficult for the Tigers, the winning record at Sir Stewart Bovell Park is also not flash, having won at the venue just once in the last five years, by 13 points in 2018.

This season, the honours have been shared between the two teams, with South Bunbury coming from 28 points down at three quarter time, to win by a point earlier in the season, while more recently Busselton

convincingly won by 45 points in a wet twilight match.

Who will win is yet to be determined, but the match has the hallmarks of a great match, with the winner to take on the loser of Bunbury and Harvey Brunswick Leschenault in the second week of the Finals.  With it being an Elimination Final, its curtains for the loser.

Busselton have won 29 of the 57 League Finals, while South Bunbury have won 62 of 115.  In Elimination Finals Busselton have only played in three, and have won just once, with South Bunbury having played seven and won 4.
