Unlikely Last Chance For Hawks

Augusta Margaret River will host Bunbury on Saturday afternoon at Gloucester Park in round twenty of the Dale Alcock Homes South West premiership season.

The Hawks can still make finals if they win their final three games, by beating Bunbury, Dunsborough and Donnybrook and if Bunbury lose to the Hawks, South Bunbury and Harvey Bulls.  Unlikely as it is, it won’t be possible if the Hawks don’t defeat Bunbury on Saturday.

Augusta Margaret River had the bye in the last round, however in their last home match, the Hawks kicked the highest score of the season and their highest score in over a decade in their dominant win over Collie.  Meanwhile Bunbury are coming off a defeat to Donnybrook and will be looking to take the points to confirm their place in the 2023 finals series.

Earlier this season Bunbury withstood a late charge by the Hawks to win by 16 points.

After an even start against Donnybrook, Bunbury were able to match the Dons in the second half, but a strong second quarter by the Dons meant the Bulldogs played catch up in the second half, something they won’t be able to afford against the Hawks.

With the Hawks getting back towards full strength after a wretched run with injuries and unavailability’s, the match is crucial for both teams in their quest for finals.
