Women’s Round To Be Played In Collie

Collie Eagles will host the second Women’s only round, in July 2023, with four matches to be played in Collie on the same day.

With ten teams now in the Optus Women’s Competition, the competition will now have a final five series, exactly the same as the three male competitions, meaning the round 22 fixtures have been moved to the “Gather Round”, in Collie to allow a final five series, and for the Grand Final still to be played after the men’s Preliminary Finals.

Several venues requested to host the day, with the Eagles getting the approval today from the Match Committee.  The Collie Eagles returned to the competition this season after being out of it for the previous two years.  It is hoped that the day will promote the Women’s competition to the region with the first of four matches scheduled for 10.30am, with the Eagles to complete the day against the reigning premiers in Busselton at 3.00pm.

With their being a general bye for the Nutrien Ag Country Championships, the weekend allows the Women’s competition the opportunity to host a stand-alone fixture.
