Young Lions Into Grand Final

Harvey Brunswick Leschenault defeated Carey Park on Sunday in the Apprentice & Traineeship Colts Preliminary Final, setting up a Grand Final Replay of last years decider, where they will again take on Bunbury.

The Lions win was set up with a dominant opening quarter which continued in the second.

The Lions had three goals on the board in rapid fashion and when Rohan Grout goaled at the fifteen minute mark, the Lions led by twenty five points, with the Panthers still scoreless.  Antwon Pickett kicked the Panthers opening goal, but it was immediately answered by Lattrell May right on the stroke of quarter time.

The second quarter replicated the first, with the Lions lead 49 points at half time.

Carey Park did rally at the start of the third, with goals to Tesean Hart, Max DiLallo and Pickett, narrowing the margin to 31 points.  The Panthers had all the momentum but a goal to Rodney Joesph sucked that momentum straight out again.

Sheldon Pickett kicked the opening goal to give the Panthers a glimmer of hope when Kayden Panetta kicked his second goal of the match, the Lions went on to win by 52 points, booking their way into the Grand Final.

Blake Soulos and Lattrell May played particularly well for the Lions, who will face Bunbury for the Premiership.
