The South West Football League Umpires will this year move to the National Umpiring colours of Grey and Green, after several seasons in Black and Orange.
A move by the AFL to have all Umpiring Associations in the new colours saw the local umpires raise significant funds to assist with the massive purchase of the new uniforms which will see them in green shirts and socks, and dark grey shorts, while for the first time, goal umpires will also move away from black pants, and into grey.

With the assistance of sponsors Bunbury Honda and Unison Limousins the purchase has been made that little bit easier for the umpires.
“This has been the biggest spend the Association has ever had, and all of the umpires are very much looking forward to wearing the new uniforms. Without the support of Scott Jones and Bunbury Honda, and Kevin Nettleton and Unison Limousins, this simply would not have been an option for us to make the change”, said Association President Jason Crowe.
“The biggest task is now to have everyone decked out by round one, with just a few umpires left to pick up their uniforms”, he added.
It is just the fifth change of uniform in 60 years for the umpires, who wore all white until 1983 when the SWFL added Green and Gold stripes to the shorts and shirts, before sponsorship in the nineties saw more green and gold colour added, before a couple of versions of orange and black.
