End Of The Road For Lions Or Dons

It will be the last game of the season for either Harvey Brunswick Leschenault or Donnybrook when they play in the Dale Alcock Homes South West, SWFL First Semi Final at Brunswick Oval on Saturday.

The Lions went down narrowly to Bunbury in the Qualifying Final, while Donnybrook were convincing winners over Augusta Margaret River in the Elimination Final, in week one of the finals, but on Saturday, only the winner advances to the Preliminary Final, and the loser will contemplate the end of another season.

The two teams have only met once this season, with Donnybrook victorious by 15 points at Boyanup Oval, with the final margin being the biggest margin of the match.  Todd Gregory played well for the Dons and Connor Carbone played well for the Lions, and both have had excellent seasons, and both will be relied upon on Saturday.

Ty Anderson is certainly a player the Dons will need to shut down, while the Lions will need to keep a close eye on Cooper Clarke-Dehring and Jeff Smith in the forward line, and Ben Howlett through the middle.

Harvey Brunswick Lescheanult and Donnybrook have only every played each other twice in finals, with the Lions winning both of them, with the last encounter in 1975 when the Lions defeated the Dons by 44 points in the Grand Final, with the other meeting in 1969 when Lions again won by 44 point in the First Semi Final.

The League match commences at 2.10pm.
