It was a day of records at the Dunsborough Playing Fields, when Dunsborough defeated the Harvey Bulls in round eight of the Dale Alcock Homes South West, South West Football League season.
Dunsborough defeated the Bulls by 118 points on Sunday afternoon and in doing so, the Sharks kicked their highest ever score and it was also the highest ever score at the Dunsborough Playing Fields, eclipsing Donnybrooks 23.8.146 in the Sharks inaugural match. It was the Sharks biggest ever winning margin and therefor their biggest win over the Bulls, while Matt Russo’s nine goal haul, is now the most goals by an individual player for the Sharks, after Chris White had held the record since 2023 when he kicked six. It was also the Bulls lowest score against the Shark after they kicked 4.7.31 in the teams last contest.
The Sharks got the upper hand early, leading by 24 points at quarter time, but would go on to kick seven goals in the second term to blow the game wide open, leading by 67 points at half time. Russo was running rampant, and along with Jake South who kicked six goals, the Sharks were proving was too strong for the Bulls. The third term offered a sligh reprieve for the Bulls, as Dunsborough only kicked four goals, but would go on to kick seven in the last term to create the clubs highest ever score.
Aside from Russo and South, it would again be Caleb Stephens with a dominant performance across the ground, while Simon Moore and Taj Magee also played well. Spence Wiggers and Dylan Marino played well for the Bulls, who face an uphill task at home in round nine when they face South Bunbury, while Dunsborough will face Bunbury at Payne Park.
