Indigenous Match Starts Round Fifteen

Round fifteen of the South West Football League is Indigenous Round, with the two sides who started the recognition of Indigenous players in the SWFL featuring in the opening game of a crucial round of fixtures in the Dale Alcock Homes South West premiership season.

Collie Eagles will host Carey Park on Saturday afternoon at the Collie Recreation Ground, with Carey Park currently in sixth place on the ladder, one of three teams on six wins, with Donnybrook fifth, and Augusta Margaret River seventh, either side of the Panthers on the ladder.

Meanwhile, Collie Eagles are eighth on the ladder and have won four games, equaling what they achieved in 2025, and far surpassing the number of wins in 2024, 2023 and 2022, and with a spate of home games to come, looking at the best season in several years, and it could start on Saturday with a win over Carey Park.

Both sides have played the Harvey Bulls as their last match with the Eagles coming off a 164 point win, before having the club bye last weekend, while Carey Park were also big winners last Sunday.  The Eagles who have had a few injuries are almost back to full strength and will be a good test for the Panthers who desperately need to win to keep in touch with the top five.  A loss will see them lose touch with Donnybrook potentially, who play Harvey on Sunday.  An Eagles victory will keep them in eighth place, however will have them just one game off of sixth place.

The match celebrates Indigenous culture and all teams across the weekend along with the umpires will wear specially made jumpers and shirts to celebrate the occassion.   The best player in every match in all competitions will also receive the game ball.
