Bunbury will host Harvey Brunswick Leschenault at PC Payne Park on Saturday, in a massive round fifteen match of the Dale Alcock Homes South West, South West Football League premiership season.
Both teams are in great form with Bunbury on an eleven game winning streak, while the Lions are on a six game winning streak of their own, which has seen them elevate to fourth place to take on the second placed Bulldogs.
The Lions are currently two games clear of fifth placed Donnybrook, but they would be loathed to lose and open the door for the Dons to potentially steal fourth place and a home final later in the season, while for Bunbury, they are two games clear of third placed South Bunbury, but a loss will see that gap potentially close, with Bunbury and South Bunbury to do battle in the final round of the season. A win by the Bulldogs will make that scenario a little harder for the Tigers, but would keep the pressure on Busselton, who are yet to lose a game, but should they have a surprise loss leading into finals, Bunbury would claim top spot with a superior percentage.
The game on Saturday will see plenty of players in good form, with Bunbury coming off a tough win against Donnybrook, while the Lions similarly are coming off a tough win against the Hawks. Both sides have midfielders in good form, which maybe where the match is won, as both sides having conceded very similar scores throughout the season, with the Bulldogs maybe having a slightly stronger forward line with the twin towers of Jett Woods and Baiden Parsons in good form.
With fine conditions and light winds forecast, the match promises to be a good one before a projected big crowd, with the winning streak of one of the two sides about to come to an end. Bunbury have won of the last ten contests against the Lions, something the Lions will look to stop on Saturday.
