Carey Park have defeated Harvey on Sunday afternoon at Kelly Park, in round six of the Dale Alcock Homes South West, South West Football League season, but they were made to work for a hard fought victory.
The Bulls who have been put to the sword in recent times by Donnybrook and Bunbury, came out firing against the Panthers, kicking the opening two goals of the game in quick succession. Carey Park fought back with Brian Hughes leading the charge, with the forward kicking five goals for the match. With the Panthers arresting the early ascendancy off the Bulls, Harvey came again with two further goals to lead by four points at quarter time.
Carey Parks midfield started to get on top in the second term, which led to many forward moves, which saw the home side kick five goals for the second term. Jaxon Bell was starting to have an influence on the match, along with Max and Jack DiLallo. The Bulls accuracy was keeping them in the match, with Carey Park leading by eighteen points at half time.
The Bulls were inspired in the opening minutes of the third term, kicking two quick goals and the margin was back to six points, but that is where it ended with the Panthers kicking seven of the last eight goals of the game.
Carey Park will face South Bunbury next Saturday at Kelly Park, while the Bulls will finally play a home game next Sunday against Augusta Margaret River after renovations to the changerooms and facilities at the Harvey Recreation Ground.
